Codesign Steps: Retargeting

Retargeting is one of the most crucial steps in hardware-software codesign. Retargeting is customization of software development tools for the selected hardware platform.

Hardware development tools include:

  • compiler
  • assembler and disassembler
  • simulator and profiler
  • linker and loader

    • Despite its importance retargeting still remains one of the bottlenecks of codesign.
